1201 The {\b Character} menu allows you to insert a foreign character or symbol. It is a popup menu that appears when you click a text box with the {\b right} mouse button.
1404 When you get a question right, the word is marked as learnt and is no longer selected for testing. You can find out how many words you have learnt by choosing {\b Statistics} from the {\b Test} menu.
1400 You can use the {\b Enter} key to submit an answer when testing.
1402 Multiple choice testing provides a good way to get started with some new vocabulary. When you are ready to learn it more thoroughly, turn the {\b Multiple Choice} option off and test yourself again.

1203 You can set up your own keyboard shortcuts for inserting foreign characters. For example, you could use Ctrl+Shift+A to insert the character {\b σ}. To define a keyboard shortcut, choose {\b Options} from the {\b View} menu and select the {\b General} tab.
2200 You can start or stop testing by pressing {\b Ctrl+T}. You can also use the {\b Escape} key to stop testing.
3043 Your answer does not have to match the expected answer exactly. To change the way answers are evaluated, choose {\b Options} from the {\b View} menu and select the {\b Evaluation} tab.
2100 You can use the {\b Undo} command on the {\b Edit} menu to roll back an action when editing vocabulary. For example, if you accidentally delete a word you can restore it by choosing {\b Undo Delete}.

1401 To learn vocabulary thoroughly you should practise translation in both directions. To change the current testing direction, choose {\b Into Native Language} or {\b Into Foreign Language} from the {\b Test} menu.
3044 When you get a question wrong, you should take a few moments to absorb the correct answer before you continue. To set a minimum display time for the correct answer choose {\b Options} from the {\b View} menu and select the {\b Feedback} tab.

1304 When editing vocabulary you can give several translations separated by semicolons or commas, e.g. {\i big, large; important}. Use multiple translations to avoid ambiguity and to allow a variety of responses when testing.
1306 You can change the position of a word by choosing {\b Cut} and {\b Paste} or {\b Move Up} and {\b Move Down} from the {\b Edit} menu, or by dragging it with the mouse. To arrange words in alphabetical order, use the {\b Sort} command.

1304 You can use brackets to denote optional text when editing vocabulary. For example, if you enter a word with the meaning {\i photo(graph)}, both {\i photo} and {\i photograph} will be accepted when the word is tested.

1306 You can change the way a word or phrase is sorted by inserting {\i @} before the first significant letter. For example, if you enter {\i el @hombre}, the word will be sorted under {\i h} instead of {\i e}.
2004 You can convert a vocabulary file to a different format using the {\b Save As} command on the {\b File} menu. This will allow you to open the file in another program.
1301 When editing vocabulary you can clarify the usage of a word by entering it as part of a phrase. Give a simple definition of the word first, then add several examples of its use in context.
3020 You can search for text with specific accent marks by selecting {\b Match accents} in the {\b Find} dialogue box.
1304 You can use a slash to denote alternative words when editing vocabulary. For example, if you enter a phrase with the meaning {\i to make/bake a cake}, both {\i to make a cake} and {\i to bake a cake} will be accepted when the phrase is tested.
3060 You can print a vocabulary quiz by clearing the checkbox marked {\b Include translations} in the {\b Print} dialogue box.
1303 When editing vocabulary you can include information about grammar and usage in the {\b Notes} field. To test yourself on this information, choose {\b Options} from the {\b View} menu, select the {\b Question} tab and change the settings in the box marked {\b Test notes}.
2106 You can use the {\b Enter} key to edit the selected word. You can also edit a word by double-clicking on it with the mouse.
3044 You can change the sound that is played to signify a correct or incorrect answer. Choose {\b Options} from the {\b View} menu, select the {\b Feedback} tab and change the entries in the boxes marked {\b Play sound}.

1300 When editing vocabulary, you can locate a word quickly by typing its initial letter. The selection moves to the next item beginning with that letter.
